The first edition of the Marquees 2017, an awards function to honour the best brands in the country, was held by the Advertising Club in the city on Friday evening.

Minister of Textile, Information & Broadcasting Smriti Irani was the guest of honour at the event. She said, “The advertising industry inspires millions across this nation. Having been a part of this journey, I have just one appeal. I implore the industry stalwarts to build a platform, in a systemic fashion, that takes care of those who need help especially from the creative part of the industry. The world should not accuse us of selling dreams. I hope that one day, on this stage, some of us will stand to applaud an Indian media company that has made it big on the global stage.”

Partho Dasgupta, CEO, BARC India, said, “Marquees has set a benchmark by recognising brands that have challenged the communication archetype in the industry. The awards are a marketer’s dream.”
