Approach CBI with Adarsh complaint, court tells Sena leader

March 14, 2014 02:40 am | Updated November 16, 2021 07:09 pm IST - MUMBAI:

The Bombay High Court on Wednesday disposed of Shiv Sena leader Neelam Gorhe’s petition for a directive to the CBI to invoke additional charges in the Adarsh Housing Society scam case.

The court refused to hear the public interest litigation petition, instead directing Ms. Gorhe to approach the CBI with her complaint.

The petitioner said the CBI should investigate the matter in light of the contravention of the Maharashtra Regional Town Planning Act, the Environment (Protection) Act, and the Benami Transaction Act.

The CBI said the investigation into benami transactions was already under way and there was no complaint about the contravention of the MRTP and Environment (Protection) Acts.

The petition relied heavily on the report of the two-member judicial commission appointed by the State government to probe the scam.
