Anna Hazare slams Centre on Lokpal

January 02, 2016 02:10 am | Updated September 22, 2016 09:11 pm IST - MUMBAI:

Social activist Anna Hazare shot off a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday, pointing out that there was “no visible difference” between the previous UPA government and the NDA dispensation, especially in tackling corruption. He questioned the current government’s record in implementing the Lok Pal and Lok Ayukta Bill passed by Parliament.

In his three-page letter in Hindi, Mr. Hazare says, “People were upset with the previous government for rising corruption, and before the Lok Sabha elections in April-May 2014, you had assured the people that when your party comes to power, fighting corruption will be your priority. People believed that after your government comes to power, they will get a corruption-free India.”
