Bollywood actor Aditya Pancholi was arrested on Sunday morning for allegedly assaulting a bouncer of a suburban night club by the Mumbai police.
According to the police, the 50-year-old actor entered the Sea Princess Hotel’s pub with couple of his friend around mid-night on Saturday. Mr. Pancholi was allegedly annoyed with the ‘English’ songs played by the disc jockey (DJ) and insisted him to play only Bollywood numbers. An argument ensued between the two when the DJ allegedly didn’t pay any heed to his request. The hotel’s bouncer had to intervene and while escorting Mr. Pancholi outside the pub, he alleged hit him with the butt of his mobile phone, thereby injuring him. The actor even allegedly roughed up other bouncers who tried to mediate between the two, the police said.
“The actor was under the influence of alcohol. He has been booked under section 323, 324 ( sections for voluntarily causing hurt) and 504 ( intentional insult with the intent to provoke breach of peace) of the IPC,” senior inspector Padmakar Chavan of the Santacruz police station within whose jurisdiction the hotel is located told The Hindu.
The actor will be produced in a holiday court on Sunday and the police is likely to seek his police custody.
