Activist lawyer Minakshi Jaiswal was brutally killed with her neck slit and two fingers cut off at her residence in Navi Mumbai, officials said on Saturday.

Her body was found on Saturday morning at her flat in Celebration Building in Sector 17 in Khargar suburb.

The police have detained two suspects in connection with the killing of Minakshi, wife of a Maharashtra judicial magistrate.

According to preliminary investigation, she was killed in the intervening night of Friday and Saturday by at least four robbers who barged into her flat.

They slit her throat, removed her ‘mangalsutra’, and cut off two fingers to remove rings before ransacking the flat for more items.

A lawyer and activist in the field of women and child rights, Minakshi had served as a unit president of the Women and Child Rights Commission.
