A private bus crashed into a car after the bus driver lost control over the vehicle on Sion-Panvel Highway around 10.45 a.m. on Monday.

No one was injured, but traffic had to be diverted after oil leaked from the car, resulting in congestion during peak office hours. The traffic snarl was cleared nearly an hour later.

Inspector Babasaheb Tope of the CBD Belapur traffic police unit said, “The road was slippery because of the sudden rain. As a result, the driver of the private bus, travelling towards Mumbai, lost control over the vehicle. The bus dashed an Alto car on the Uran Phata flyover. Oil from the car leaked and spread on the road.”

Mr. Tope said, “As soon as we received information, traffic was diverted and the oil leak was covered with sand.” The officer added that the car was damaged, but no one was injured.

Meanwhile, according to the disaster management cell of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC), an average 1.68 mm rainfall was recorded in all the four zones of the city. Airoli received 2.1 mm rainfall, Nerul 2 mm, CBD Belapur 1.6 mm and Vashi received 1 mm.
