Mumbai: An assistant commissioner with the Vasai Virar Municipal Corporation, and his wife, were booked by the Palghar unit of the Anti-Corruption Bureau on Thursday for possessing disproportionate assets.

Jitendra Bhimrao Chaudhari, a class III employee, and his wife Kiran Chaudhari, were found to have amassed assets worth ₹50.87 lakh between 1992 and September 30, 2014, which is 59% more than their known source of income.

Both have been booked under Section 13 (1)(e) of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988. At the time of going to press, the police are conducting searches at the house of the accused.
