A 24-year-old MBBS graduate, who was aspiring to pursue a degree in a specialised field, committed suicide by jumping off the seventh floor of a residential building in Kandivali on Tuesday morning.
Dr. Parth Bamaria allegedly took the drastic step as he did not score well in the postgraduation entrance test, National Eligibility cum Entrance Test. The results were declared last week. Dr. Bamaria had graduated from the G.S. Medical College attached to KEM Hospital, and was attempting the NEET exam for the second time.
The incident took place at around 1 a.m. on Tuesday. Dr Bamaria lived alone in a Lokhandwala complex while his parents lived in another wing of the same building. Dr. Bamaria left a suicide note in which he stated that he was feeling depressed. Doctors who knew him said that he did not show any signs of being upset.
“We found a suicide note in his house in which he had written that he was taking his own life due to depression. It did not mention any specific reason behind the extreme step,” said Senior Police Inspector D.S. Yadav, Samta Nagar police station. He said an Accidental Death Report had been registered.
