Mumbai: A fire broke out on board a missile vessel at Naval Dockyard in Mumbai on Tuesday. Officials said the fire was brought under control and no casualties were reported.

According to Defence officials, the fire broke out at around 11:40 a.m. on board Veer-class vessel INS Pralaya, which is undergoing refit at the dockyard.

“The fire was reported in the gyro compartment and was brought under control with the assistance of the dockyard fire brigade. There were no injuries,” a Defence spokesperson said.

The Naval Dockyard has seen its share of accidents in recent times. On July 19 last year, two Naval security boats were damaged after a fire broke out in the dockyard. On December 6, INA Betwa, a guided missile frigate, tipped over during undocking, and two sailors were killed, while 14 were injured.
