A day after BJP MP Kirit Somaiya levelled charges of money laundering against Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray and his family, another BJP leader claimed that the wealth of Sena corporators has immensely increased since they last contested polls.

Education Minister and BJP leader Vinod Tawde claimed that the Sena and the Congress have joined hands over 90 seats, calling it a ‘valentine gift’ to each other.

Addressing a press conference at the Mumbai BJP headquarters in Dadar, Mr. Tawde claimed that the income of Sena candidate Bhalchandra Mhatre (ward no. 2) rose by 733% when compared with his 2007 poll affidavit. Similarly, the income of Sujata Patekar (ward no.4) has shown an increase of 3244% in 10 years. Shanjay Ghadi (ward no. 5) and Riddhi Khursange (ward no11) have shown property increase by 389% and 3900% respectively compared with five years ago.

Mr. Tawde demanded to know their source of income, and the nature of business they were involved in.

On Monday, Mr. Somaiya linked Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray to seven benaami companies: Jagmandri Finwest Pvt. Ltd, Kim Electronics, JPK Trading, Lexus Infotech, Regalgold Trading Co-op Pvt. Ltd., Vanguard Jewels Ltd. and Yash Jewels Ltd.
