Navi Mumbai: The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC), in a week, has surveyed 275 hotels of which 97 have been served a notice. Forty restaurants, including Barbeque Nation, Little Italy, Viscious Circle, and Tight Restaurant in Inorbit Mall, have faced demolition.
The NMMC has formed teams consisting of a fire officer, licence officer, assistant engineer, and a ward officer, in each ward to inspect violations. The teams checked for the corporation licence, trade licence, fire safety equipment, NOC from the fire department, and unauthorised constructions.
“For NOC, we inspect the establishment under various criteria. We check their kitchen for chimney and door, seating arrangement, exit door, and non-inflammable interior along with functional fire extinguishers,” Prabhakar Gadhe, fire officer from NMMC, said.
The 97 establishments have got 30 days within which, they will have to pull down their illegal structures. “The survey will go on till we inspect all the establishments. In my area, 55 establishments have been surveyed, of which 32 have been issued a notice,” CBD Belapur ward officer Sanjay Tandel said.
