‘Murdered boy may be from Odisha’

January 20, 2017 12:34 am | Updated 12:34 am IST - Mumbai:

The Tilak Nagar police suspect that a body found abandoned in a suitcase near the Lokmanya Tilak Terminus on January 8 could be of a boy from Odisha.

CCTV footage at the station has shown a man abandoning the suitcase. The boy, estimated to be around 12 years old, has still not been identified.

“The boy had a black ceremonial thread tied around his waist. We found out that the design is used by the Odia community. We have sent a team to Mahul village, where there is a significant Odia presence, and confirmed this with the local residents,” said an officer with the Tilak Nagar police.

The police are now contacting Odia settlements across the city as well as in Thane and Navi Mumbai.
