The Revolutionary Marxist Party (RMP) leadership has said the volte-face of Leader of the Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan on the T.P. Chandrasekharan murder will not affect the party
K.K. Rema, wife of the slain RMP leader, told reporters here on Friday that Mr. Achuthanandan had been a different voice, which stood for truth and justice, in the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)].
“We were following his politics. Now society will reject him,” she said.
She said that the RMP had been formed on the basis of the politics adopted by Mr. Achuthanandan.
The party would not backtrack because he had changed his stance. Mr. Achuthanandan gave his wholehearted support to the RMP.
“We expect that from him in future too. I felt comforted when he stood by us during Chandrasekharan’s death. We respect him then and now. We will not discard him even if he snubs us,” Ms. Rema said.
Mr. Achuthanandan had in a recent television interview said that the RMP was an appendage of the Congress party and that the party had been taking decisions after consulting the former Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan.
‘Sane voice’Reacting to questions at another press meet, P. Kumarankutty, RMP State secretariat member, said that the political stance of Mr. Achuthanandan had benefitted the party.
Mr. Achuthanandan’s had been the sane voice in the CPI(M).
“He might have been misinformed. The RMP has not taken a decision to help the Congress party,” he said.
