Bala Chitramela 2014’, an exhibition of paintings by children organised by Chitrarekha Art Academy at the Kerala Lalithakala Akademi Art Gallery in Kozhikode, is an attempt to motivate young talents.
The exhibition features paintings by six children — Yagesh, Amal Lal, Adinath, Anand, Anjith and Sharan. The artists have put on display at least three paintings each in varied styles. Most of them are in water colour while some have used oil pastels and metal engravings.
The Chitrarekha Art Academy, which offers art classes as well as curatorial services, has been holding exhibitions with a view to motivating those with a passion for art . The two previous exhibitions were held for grown up artists and were a huge hit among art enthusiasts in the city. The majority of artists featured in the exhibitions were amateurs who were not aware of ways to market their talents.
“We get a lot of response for invitations put up in the media for children interested in exhibiting their works. The suitable candidates are screened from the entries received,” said project designer of the academy Premadas Iruvallur. The academy welcomes more entries and exhibitions will be held in future for such children, Mr. Iruvallur said.
The exhibition that began on Sunday will conclude on June 5.
