Vivek, 22, and Subhash, 23, hailing from Kunduparamba and Puthiyappa respectively and arraigned as accused in the murder of R. Praburaj, 23, surrendered before the Koyilandy Judicial First Class Magistrate Court here on Thursday.

The court remanded the duo in judicial custody for 14 days to the Koyilandy sub-jail.

Praburaj, of Kattuvayal Colony, Nadakkavu, was killed during a clash between two gangs at Kunduparamba around 8 p.m. on Sunday.

His friend, Thariq, 23, of Arakkinar, who sustained serious injuries, was recuperating at the Government Medical College Hospital, Kozhikode, the police said.

Investigators planned to seek police custody of the accused for questioning.

Kannan, a gang leader suspected to be behind the attack, was absconding along with six others, the police said.

The murder of Praburaj could be the result of a rivalry between two karate-kickboxing clubs in the city. Vivek was also an accused in a case of ‘attack’ on one Mansoor at the CDA Colony in the city, the police said. Kannan was involved in an ‘attack case’ at the Government General Hospital in October 2012, the police said.
