April 11, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 07:54 am IST - Kozhikode:

The first phase of training for polling officials for the upcoming Assembly elections will begin from April 15.

The training is for presiding officers and first polling officers from April 15 to 21. A schedule has been prepared for this purpose.

Officials said that the training would be held in their respective Assembly constituencies.

The sessions have been divided into two -, morning and afternoon. Detailed schedule of the classes will be notified later.

Village offices

Meanwhile all village offices were opened on Sunday to enable the polling officers to secure their orders for election procedures.

This was following a directive from District Collector N. Prasanth on Saturday.

All educational institutions have also been directed to remain open on Monday to receive the polling instructions from taluk and village offices. A representative should be in charge to take delivery of these orders.

Action would be taken against those refusing to receive the orders on time, the Collector said.

All educational institutions should also ensure that vehicles are repaired before April 30 so these could be utilised for Assembly polls.

A list of the vehicles should be submitted to the Vadakara Regional Transport Officer.

The name and mobile number of the returning officer, mobile phone, name of the institution, name and mobile number of the vehicle driver and seating capacity of the vehicles should be mentioned.
