Traders want State to seek their tips on S.M. Street

May 12, 2013 01:01 pm | Updated August 10, 2016 11:56 am IST - Kozhikode:

The city central committee of the Kerala Vyapari Vyvasayi Ekopana Samithi has urged the State government to seek the suggestion of the traders before going ahead with a heritage project at the Sweet Meat Street (S.M.Street) in the city.

The announcement of the District Collector that the construction activities would take off as soon as the government allocated Rs.4 crore for the project was against democratic norms.

The interests of the traders should be protected before the District Administration undertook the heritage project, a meeting of the city central committee said here on Saturday.

The meeting also elected A.V.M. Kabeer as president, Shafeek Pattatt as general secretary, and Isham Ali as treasurer.
