Torching of forest office: Parishad seeks action

May 01, 2014 01:28 pm | Updated 01:28 pm IST - Kozhikode:

The district conference of the Kerala Sasthra Sahithya Parishad (KSSP) has urged the government to ensure exemplary punishment to the criminals who torched the Forest Range Office at Thamarassery in the guise of protesting against the Kasturirangan Committee Report a few months ago.

The conference, held at Perambra, observed that the act of burning several important documents including the ones related to the forest encroachment case at Jeerakappara was result of a larger conspiracy.

The conference also elected K. Prabhakaran as the new district president and P. Vijayan as the secretary of the organisation. V.T. Nasar and V. Muraleedharan would be the new district vice-president while P.M. Vinod Kumar and M.N. Girija Parvathi would be the new joint secretaries of the organisation.
