KOZHIKODE: The district-level launch of the Kerala TB Elimination Mission will be held at Kozhikode beach on November 1. Mayor Thottathil Raveendran will inaugurate the initiative, P.P. Pramod Kumar, District TB Officer, told the media here on Monday.

He said the mission was part of the World Health Organisation’s efforts to eradicate tuberculosis from the world by 2035. Kerala is the first State to launch the drive in the country, and the target is to eradicate the disease by 2025.

“We are planning to hold a survey in all households in the State. Migrant labourers too will be covered, and treatment will be offered for free, if they are diagnosed with the disease,” Mr. Pramod Kumar said. TB elimination task forces have also been set up at the district, corporation, municipality and block panchayat levels.
