The rain camp organised by the ULCCS Foundation for 200 students selected from various schools in the district as part of its Vagbhadanantha Education Project concluded at the Vocational Higher Secondary School for Girls at Nadakkavu here on Sunday.

Several sessions to help students understand the multiple dimensions of rain and its importance to life on earth were held as part of the two-day camp.

The participants were taken out to the beach and other places during rain to understand the rain better. Saji Gopinath, professor, the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode, led a session on the importance of rainwater harvesting and the ways and means of doing it.

The students were introduced to a variety of plants, which were seen only during the rainy season.

The visit to the beach was meant to help students understand the changes in the sea during the rainy season and the effects it brings to the seashore during monsoon.

The camp that began on August 2 was inaugurated by M. Anirudhan, a U.S.-based food scientist.

ULCCS Foundation chairman P. Rameshan presided.
