The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has started the process of development and implementation of the next version of Universal Account Number (UAN) by which the UAN of an EPF member is obtained or linked with the present employment by the present employer before filing the Electronic Chalan-cum Return (ECR).

A press release issued by Assistant PF Commissioner C.N. Prathapachandran said that on implementation of the revised ECR, the contributing members should have UAN, failing which the employer would not be able to remit the dues in respect of those members without UAN.

Sept.15 deadline

“It is noted that a large number of UANs are pending with employers for confirmation of first employment/ linking of previous employment and its approval. It is requested that all the pending activity in respect of UAN allotment / approval may be cleared by September 15,” the release said.

For assistance, if any, contact EPFO, Sub Regional Office, Eranhipalam in person or through phone (0495-2766532 and 0495-2361293), the release issued by the Assistant PF Commissioner said.
