The State School Science Fest began at Tirur here on Wednesday with hundreds of students from 14 districts completing their registration formalities.
Additional Director of Public Instruction L. Rajan hoisted the flag at Government Boys’ High School ground in the morning. C. Mammootty, MLA, Deputy Director of Education P.K. Jayanthi, Tirur municipal chairperson K. Safiya, Deputy Educational Officer K.K. Kamalam, Regional Director of Higher Education S. Satyan, Tirur Chamber of Commerce secretary P.P. Abdurahman, and conveners of the organising committee were present.
Mr. Mammootty, who is the chairman of the organising committee, dedicated the pandhal at KHM Higher Secondary School, Alathiyur. Pazhayidam Mohanan Namboothiri inaugurated the mess by boiling milk. Mr. Rajan released a handbook titled Thunchante Mannil by handing over a copy to Mr. Mammootty.
Special registration facilities were arranged at the SSM Polytechnic for those attending the festival with favourable court verdict on their appeals.
A festive ambience set in with the arrival of students, parents, and teachers in large numbers from across the State at Tirur by the afternoon.
Minister for Education P.K. Abdu Rabb will formally inaugurate the science festival on Thursday morning. About 7,800 students from across the State are expected to showcase their scientific and mathematical talent at the fair.
VenuesWhile the Government Boys’ High School will host the science festival and competitions in teaching aid and teacher projects, the Government Devadhar Higher Secondary School at Tanur will host the mathematical fair. There will be teaching aid competitions in mathematics. The social science fair will be held at the Government Higher Secondary School, Niramaruthur, where competitions in chronicling of local history, elocution, and atlas-making will take place.
The work experience fair will be held at KHM High School, Alathiyur.
The IT mela will be held at SSM Polytechnic College.
