State school arts fete: final schedule by January

December 29, 2014 11:23 am | Updated 11:23 am IST - Kozhikode:

The final schedule of events, comprising details including which event to be held where and when, for the 55th State School Arts Festival to be held in the city from January 15 to 21 will be available by the first week of January.

This was told by the programme committee convenor Sudhakaran Parambath. The district-level arts festivals, according to Mr. Parambath, would be completed only by January 9 in different districts. The organisers had more or less a clear idea of what the schedule would be, but the final picture could be made public only after taking various aspects into consideration, he said.

“The chairperson of the organising committee will be announcing it without delay,” said.

The different committees, entrusted with various responsibilities of organising the event, were working in full swing ever since they were formed, he said. The works for the main venue of the festival at the Malabar Christian College School Grounds here were also progressing well.

All the venues had already been finalised for the festival, which would see hundreds of participants from all the 14 districts of the State vying for honours in as many as 232 events including on-stage and off-stage.

Kozhikode had successfully hosted the golden jubilee edition of the event in the city five years ago. This time, the role of the host came to the district by chance, as Kochi, which was expected to hold the event, expressed its inconvenience because of the work in progression for the Kochi Metro.
