Thousands of Sunni believers will converge at Swalat Nagar, near here, on Thursday evening to attend a mega prayer conference organised by the Madinu Ssaqafathil Islamiyya.

Largest in world

The meet is tipped to be one of the largest in the world during Ramzan.

Madin Academy chairman Sayed Ibrahim Khaleel Bukhari will lead the prayers and administer a pledge against terrorism.

The programme will start in the morning with an Ihthikaf Jalsa.

There will be Quran and other spiritual sessions during the day.

Thousands are expected to attend a mass Iftar at Madin grounds. Several other places between Malappuram and Pookkottur too have been arranged for Iftar, said the organisers.

After the mandatory Isha prayers and Ramzan’s Tharaveeh prayers, Samastha Kerala Jamiyyathul Ulama vice president Sayed Ali Bafaqi Thangal will lead the inaugural prayer.

All India Sunni Jamiyyathul Ulama general secretary Kanthapuram A. P. Aboobacker Musliar will inaugurate the function. Mr. Bukhari will deliver the keynote address. Several leading Islamic scholars will address the gathering.

Mr. Bukhari will lead the Nariyyathu Swalat prayer. The congregation will mark the anniversary of the Nariyyathu Swalat prayers held every month at Swalat Nagar.

Elaborate arrangements have been made for the congregation.

Large screens have been set up at several places for the people to watch the programme.

Helpdesk

A helpdesk has been set up for non-resident Indians arriving for the function.
