Special ward for blood cancer patients soon in Kozhikode medical college

The Government Medical College, Kozhikode, will soon have a special ward for blood cancer patients, said Minister for Health V.S. Sivakumar.

Talking to reporters after meeting the heads of departments at the Medical College here on Tuesday, he said the Union government had sanctioned Rs. 45 crore for a Cancer Centre at the Medical College. Earlier, the Minister visited the Casualty Block of the Medical College Hospital. He said a Rs.150-crore Central project for the development of basic infrastructure at the hospital would soon be implemented. A fertility clinic would be set up at the hospital. The Minister said 25 nurses would be appointed at the Department of Neonatal Care while 15 nurses would be appointed in Intensive Care. An annexe building for the Dental College, a cathlab and Medical college canteen were under consideration. He said a new Academic Block of the medical college would be opened.
