Kozhikode: A special session of the corporation council on Thursday adopted a resolution to constitute a panel for the implementation of the Haritha Keralam Mission.

Mayor Thottathil Raveendran will be the chairperson of the committee, while corporation secretary, agriculture officer, supervisors of Kudumbasree Mission and Integrated Child Development Scheme and corporation engineer, and medical officer will be its members.

The Mayor chaired the session on Thursday. Opposition councillors of the Congress, Indian Union Muslim League, Janata Dal (United), and the BJP unanimously accepted the proposal.

Haritha Keralam is an ambitious programme envisaged by the State government to make Kerala clean, besides protecting its water sources and soil. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had launched the mission in December.

The mission aims at ensuring a clean and green State through waste management, organic farming, and conservation of water resources with the support of local bodies and people.

The government has directed all local bodies to form their own committees to implement the project at grama panchayat, block panchayat, district panchayat, corporation, and municipality levels.
