The poll observers, appointed by the Election Commission, will reach the district on Friday.

The team is headed by senior IAS officers Raman Kumar and Ashok Kumar Sanwaria, who will mainly check if there are any violations of the already declared Election Code of Conduct.

District Collector C.A. Latha, who is also the District Election Officer, said in a communication here on Wednesday that special squads and other supportive mechanism to check the violation of the code of conduct were already in place in Kozhikode district. In the days ahead, these teams would be headed by the poll observers, she added.

Arrangements have also been made to monitor the contents in the social media including Facebook, twitter and blogs. The media certification and monitoring cell at the Collectorate will handle the subject.

Public too can communicate their complaints about social media contents to the monitoring cell (Ph: 0495-2373096).
