The trial in three cases relating to solar scam is on in Kozhikode district even as the State government is yet to divulge the contents of the G. Sivarajan Commission which had probed the scam and submitted its report two days ago.

A special team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Jaison K. Abraham probed four cases including one registered against Saritha S. Nair and her former partner Biju Radhakrishnan at Perithalmanna police station in Malappuram for allegedly duping a medical practitioner there.

One of the cases registered at Elathur police station here against the duo was that they had swindled ₹12 lakh from a city-based businessman for setting up a franchise of the Team Solar Company. This was on the basis of a complaint from Vincent Simon of Mokavoor, Erhanikkal, who was offered franchises of Team Solar Renewable Energy Solutions Company in Palakkad and Thrissur. The victim was a driver in the Gulf for 18 years.

The prosecution version is that Saritha had approached the victim as Lakshmi Nair, posing as zonal manager of the company, while Biju introduced himself as K.B. Nair or Biju Nair. Saritha and Biju were running a firm called Team Solar Renewable Energy Solutions at Chittoor Road in Kochi.

Another case is that both of them along with their driver had allegedly duped Abdul Majeed, owner of Associated Steels Yard, into paying ₹42.70 lakh after promising him franchises in solar panel and windmill farm companies. The case was registered at Kasaba station here.

The accused had also defrauded the authorities of two schools after promising that their company would set-up windmill to generate electricity on the campuses at Vadakara. However, the case was registered as one crime though involved two incidents, Mr. Abraham said.

The Dy.SP said the Kozhikode police team had been asked to probe the cases in Kozhikode and Malappuram districts. At least two cases against them were registered in connection with the solar scam in Kannur and Kasaragod districts, he said.
