Signature campaign for Gadgil report

Prakrithi Samrakshana Samithy, a collective of environment activists, has launched a signature campaign in the district in favour of implementing the Madhav Gadgil Committee report, here on Monday.

The memorandum with signs of as many as 1,00,000 people from different parts of the State would be submitted to Prime Minister Narendra Modi as well as Union Minister for Environment Prakash Javdekar, said the Samithy in a release here.

Inaugurating the campaign, samithy chairman T. Srinivasan said that the Gujarat and Union governments should review their decision to raise the height of Sardar Sarovar Dam in Gujarat.

Get-together

A get-together of different environment organisations and green collectives from the Malabar region would be held at the Gandhi Griham in the city at 10 a.m. on June 21.
