From music, magic and sweets to gift, games and garlands, almost everything that children would love, are being readied in hundreds of schools that will reopen for a new academic year on Monday.
Elaborate arrangements have been made in almost every school in the district to welcome the young ones in a striking and joyful manner as they reach the school for a new beginning in life.
The district-level inauguration of the Praveshanolsavam will take place at Shivapuram Government Higher Secondary School, near Balussery. The village school is all set to host a grand function on its premises with Minister for Panchayat and Social Justice M.K. Muneer expected to inaugurate it in the morning on Monday.
Fresh academic yearThe festivities that officially mark the beginning of a fresh academic year at the school will begin with a cultural procession featuring attractions like a Chinkarimelam , Muthukkuda , and band troops at Shivapuram.
“Special gifts will also be given to the new entrants besides ceremoniously ushering them into the classroom after distributing sweets,” said V.A. Latheef president of the Parents and Teachers Association (PTA) at the school.
“Arrangements have also been made to ensure participation of maximum number of people at the function,” he said.
The Praveshanolsavam will be particularly sweet for the Aided Upper Primary (AUP) School, Malapparamba, which is preparing to welcome a new batch of students after reconstructing two of its main buildings, which was allegedly demolished by its own manager.
Along with the school protection committee, parents and teachers association and different teachers’ forums, Kerala Sasthra Sahithya Parishad (KSSP) also is joining the special Praveshanolsavam being organised at the school on Monday.
According to the school headmistress N.M. Preethy the festivities will include music, magic, and distribution of special gifts for the students including the new entrants.
“For us, it is a particularly sweet Praveshanolsavam ,” she said.
All decked upWith their walls painted with attractive images and premises decorated with balloons and colourful festoons, the schools in the district have all decked up for the special day.
Some of them like the Government Upper Primary School, Bilathikulam, here have also went a step further by setting up the special “items” such as the model of a compartment on the school premises naming it Aksharavandi (Letter train) to arouse the interest of the newcomers.
The district-level inauguration of Praveshanolsavam at Shivapuram School will also coincide with the Navati (90 anniversary) celebration of the school.
“A Navati special supplement will be also released during the inaugural ceremony,” said Mr. Latheef.
