The Samastha Kerala Islam Matha Vidyabhyasa Board, affiliated to the Samastha Kerala Jamiyyathul Ulama, has decided to pull out from the Waqf Adalat convened by the Minister for Local Self-Governments and Waqf K.T. Jaleel in protest against what they termed as “unilateral decisions” taken by the Minister.

To sort out differences

The adalat is being convened to sort out the differences between the Samastha and the Sunni faction led by Kanthapuram A.P. Aboobacker Musliyar over mosques, institutions and Waqf properties in dispute. The Samastha had initially agreed to participate in the adalat.

‘Taking sides’

However, in a press release issued on Sunday, the board alleged that the Minister had included only two members of the Kanthapuram faction who had been acting against the interests of the Samastha in the Waqf Tribunal.

They alleged that the Minister had been taking sides in the dispute and they were pulling out from the adalat.
