Breakwaters planned

Of the allotment, Rs.7 crore will be used for setting up a breakwater in the Kallayi river and another Rs.3 crore for a breakwater in the sea at Mukhadar and Rs.5.6 crore for extending the length of seven groynes in the sea from Mukhadar to the southern part of the beach.

While Rs.2 crore will be used for constructing sea walls at Nainamvalappu, Kothi and Pallikkandy areas, Rs.1 crore will be expended for de-silting works in the estuary area of the Kallayi river. The fund will be expended once the projects get administrative sanction, said the release.
