Row over unlit streetlights at campaign venue

April 08, 2014 11:28 am | Updated May 21, 2016 09:27 am IST - Kozhikode:

Congress leaders on Monday criticised the city Corporation authorities for the malfunctioning of street lights at the venue of the UDF election campaign here attended by UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi.

Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee general secretary K.P. Anilkumar, who first noticed the issue during his public address, said the Corporation, led by the LDF, was trying to sabotage the programme.

“Such attempts will not harm the Congress,” he said.

Though a few street lights became functional, most of them remained unlit for hours.

The Congress leader said the Corporation was apathetic to the issue even after it was brought to their notice.
