The Kasaba Police are on the lookout for two youth who attacked a 66-year-old businessman and robbed him of his money, including dollars and dirham, amounting to Rs.15 lakh on Tuesday night.

As per the complaint filed by Sundaran Nayadi, the victim, the robbers also took away his scooter costing Rs.40, 000 and two watches. The incident took place at 8.30 p.m. while he was returning home. The man was reportedly overpowered by the attackers at Thiruvannur by spraying chilly powder in his eyes.

Circle Inspector N. Biswas, who is probing the case, said some of the suspected persons had already been interrogated as per the information given by the complainant, who is running a foreign money exchange firm in Silk Street in Kozhikode. “Also, steps have been taken to trace the scooter with the support of traffic control units,” he added.

Police officers, who ruled out the involvement of migrant labourers in the incident, said it was committed by people who knew the man and his routine travel. “The incident took place a few metres away from his house,” the police said.
