Eight renovated roads in the city will be thrown open to the public on Sunday. According to a press release, the Pushpa Junction-Railway Station-Model School Road, Annie Hall Road, Pattalappalli Junction-Town Hall Road, Vaikom Muhammed Basheer Road, Sreekanteshwara Temple Road, Court Road, Cherootty Road and Silk Street-Corporation-Moonnalingal Road in the city have been renovated under the State government’s One-time Maintenance Project. Kozhikode Corporation had been allotted Rs.40 crore as part of a project to renovate roads under various Corporations.
The eight roads were selected from a shortlist of 18 roads submitted by the Corporation. The stretches are 6.5 kilometres long and cost Rs.8 crore. The maintenance was done by Uralungal Labour Cooperative Society. The drainage system by the roads has also been renovated. The roads will be inaugurated by Minister for Social Welfare M.K. Muneer at a function near Mele Palayam Junction at 12 noon, a press release said.
