Refrain from controversial remarks: Sudheeran

January 23, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:47 am IST - Kozhikode:

Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president V.M. Sudheeran has warned party leaders against making controversial statements in the light of the disclosures by some prime witnesses in the bar bribery case that Finance Minister K.M. Mani allegedly took bribe from bar owners for reopening closed bars in the State.

His warning comes close on the heels of KPCC office-bearer and spokesperson Ajay Tharayil publicly stating that he was in favour of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy presenting the State Budget in the Assembly in the wake of the allegations against the Finance Minister.

Supports CM’s stance

Replying to questions here on Thursday, Mr. Sudheeran said he supported the stance of the Chief Minister that Mr. Mani would present the budget. “So it is better that party spokespersons or office-bearers refrain from commenting on the issue. Instructions have been given to all in this regard,” he said.
