Care for nature: A show of paintings and installations titled ‘Biophilia’ is under way at Kerala Lalithakala Akademi in Kozhikode.

‘Biophilia’, an exhibition of paintings and installations by 46 artists, began at the Kerala Lalithakala Akademi Art Gallery here on Sunday.

The works convey the inner turmoil faced by the artists upon the destruction of nature and all that is natural around them.

Distinct styles

The artists have displayed distinct styles and some have followed the minimalist method to convey their ideas.

The medium are also very diverse: though the use of acrylic on canvas is dominant, pencil drawings and crayons too have made a mark in these works.

The installations are mostly in metal while some are in wood.

The exhibition, curated by Manesha Deva Sarma, was inaugurated by writer and environmentalist Ambikasuthan Mangad.

The exhibition will conclude on March 16.
