In its effort to preserve classic texts, manuscripts and revive the lost Islamic heritage, Markaz Knowledge City is setting up a well-stocked public library on its premises.

The library, which is being built by the generous support of people from all walks of life, will act as an open hub of learning and as a huge resource for researchers, students and scholars from different academic disciplines, especially in history and social science.

A massive effort is now under way to collect manuscripts written through centuries, works on various branches of Islamic studies, compilations of prosaic and poetic works originally written in Arabic-Malayalam scripts, published and unpublished books on the traditional Mappila community, and newly published academic works in English, Arabic, Urdu languages, which are focused on the diverse branches of Islamic studies.

Moreover, the library will also receive newly written and published Islamic works from different languages. It has announced a number of schemes for those who are interested to contribute to this giant project.

“The works by Muslim scholars, scientists and theologians have helped develop great civilizations over centuries and paved way for a large number of transformative discoveries,” said Dr. A.P. Abdul Hakeem Azhary, the director of Markaz Knowledge City while inaugurating the project launching ceremony.

The wide array of new books will be set in a way that will help students studying in various institutions in Markaz Knowledge City develop their knowledge in the concerned area of their studies.

Old and traditional texts will be digitized for generations to come. The vast collection of books from various streams of knowledge would enable its students and wider community of researchers from outside, to redefine the past, rethink of the present and reshape their visions on the future, he added.

The book collection project held on Jamia Markaz Campus at Karanthur was inaugurated by V.P.M. Faizy Vallyappilli, a senior professor in Jamia Markaz, by handing over his 75 books to Shiekh Abubaker Musliyar, its chancellor.

Sayyid Ali Bafaqi Thangal, and Dr. Hussein Saqafi Chullikkkod attended the event.
