Annual development projects for Rs.5 crore for the Kodiyathur grama panchayat for the year 2014-15 have been ratified.
The projects were ratified during a development seminar organised by the panchayat recently.
An amount of Rs.20 lakh has been allocated for renovation of the panchayat office. A sum of Rs.24 lakh has been set aside for constructing buildings for four new anganwadis in the panchayat.
The panchayat is taking up a mega drinking water project along with Karassery, Mukkam, and Omassery panchayats. The panchayat’s share for the project will be Rs.11 lakh.
The seminar, which chalked out a comprehensive action plan to make the anganwadis at Kodiyathur more child-friendly by allocating adequate funds, set aside a sum of Rs.2 crore for infrastructure developments.
Other projects ratified at the seminar include schemes to improve physical amenities in the settlements of traditional pottery-makers in the panchayat, programmes to improve the employability of students at various levels, and projects to provide vocational training to women.
P.C. Abdul Kareem, member of the district panchayat and the District Planning Committee, inaugurated the seminar. Kodiyathur panchayat president Chalil Sainaba presided over the function.
