Programme on organ donation

April 20, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:40 am IST - Kozhikode:

Compassionate people must come forward for more organ donations to take place, District Collector N. Prasanth has said.

At a programme on cadaver organ donation organised by the district panchayat as part of its Jeevaldanam project on Saturday, he said society had an important part to play in organ donations. “Donating a person’s organs after death could provide a new lease of life to seven people,” Mr. Prasanth said.

District panchayat president Kanathil Jameela presided. T.J. George, father of Arun George, the first cadaver organ donor in Malabar, was the chief guest.
