There should be a probe into the investments of politicians in real estate, particularly by CPI(M) leaders, in the context of a private company in Karnataka getting mining rights here, Socialist Yuva Janata president Salim Madavoor has said.

He told a press meet here on Tuesday that the sanction was accorded during the tenure of the LDF by ignoring the application of the public sector Kundremukh Iron Ore Company Ltd.

CPI(ML) demand

The district committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) [CPI(ML)], on Tuesday, accused the former Industries Minister Elamaram Karim and his successor P.K. Kunhalikutty, of the UDF, of backing a private company from Karnataka to mine in Chakkittapara panchayat. It said their alleged support amounted to anti-people measure by exploiting natural resources.
