To signal their appreciation for the State government decision to give All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) benefits to teachers of government polytechnics, teachers have called off their ongoing agitation, said P. Ramkumar, State secretary of Government Polytechnic Teaching Staff Union, on Thursday.

The decision would enable polytechnic teachers to go for higher studies. Though the State government had issued orders in 2000 to grant AICTE package of benefits the order remained on paper. until it was implemented by the present government.
