The Kerala Police have chosen six police officers from Kozhikode city for good service entry and other five civil police officers for cash award for their efforts in fighting the fire breakout on S.M. Street.

Expressing delight over the honour, Assistant Commissioner K.P. Abdul Razak (Kozhikode South), who led the team, said it was the first time that they got a quick recognition for the effort taken to handle a major crisis.

“We were the first to reach the spot on receiving a message on February 22. If this 11-member team had not reached the spot on time, the incident would have been more disastrous,” said Mr. Razak.

The honour came on the basis of a recommendation made by District Police Chief J. Jayanath. Mr. Razak, Circle Inspector P.M. Manoj, Sub Inspectors E.K. Shiju, Abdul Azeez, P. Muraleedharan and Additional Sub Inspector Vijaya Kumar were selected for good service entry.

Civil police officers M. Raju, P. Rajeesh, M.K. Sajil Kumar, M.V. Biju and M. Dileep Kumar were selected for cash award.

The 11-member team was also accorded an in-house reception at the office of Director General of Police (North Zone) Rajesh Dewan on Wednesday.

Mr. Jayanath and other senior police officers were also present at the felicitation event.
