Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] Kozhikode district secretariat member P. Mohanan has alleged that he was rigorously forced by the investigating officers to testify against party State unit secretary Pinarayi Vijayan and State secretariat member Elamaram Karim during questioning in connection with the murder of Revolutionary Marxist Party (RMP) leader T.P. Chandrasekharan.
At a press conference here on Tuesday, Mr. Mohanan, who was recently acquitted by the Special Additional Sessions Court in the case, said the investigating officers had resorted to all kinds of pressure tactics to drag the names of these leaders into the case.
“They resorted to all kinds of tactics to mentally torture me and elicit what they wanted from me,” he said.
Mr. Mohanan, however, made it clear that he was not physically handled at any point of the investigation.
Stating that he was forced to testify that the alleged conspiracy to murder the RMP leader was hatched at the district committee office of the party in Kozhikode, Mr. Mohanan said he was also coerced by the investigating officers to give a signed blank paper, which he did not do despite severe pressure.
Mr. Mohanan, who termed the days of questioning as extremely horrendous, asked why he was kept in the jail for 19 months despite committing no offence.
