May 17, 2013 02:20 pm | Updated 02:21 pm IST - KOZHIKODE:

The city traffic police have decided to take stringent action against the auto drivers who collect unfair charges from the travellers, flouting the existing metre-based fare determination method in the city.

Flash strike

In an official communication issued on the sidelines of a flash strike called by the auto-rickshaw drivers here on Thursday, the police officers said public should immediately pass on such complaints to the Department.

Register number

The register number or C.C. number of the vehicle could be sent in the form of an SMS to the number 9497990113 or mailed to acptrskkd.pol@kerala.gov.in.

Also, one could submit it in black and white to the traffic police station.

The communication also informed that a prepaid auto counter would shortly start functioning on the railway station premises for ensuring a fair service to the citizens.

Fixed charges

Once the prepaid counter is active, the passengers would need to remit only the fixed amount mentioned in the slip issued from the counter, the release said.
