A rural police team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Jaison Abraham has zeroed in on a man hailing from Mukkam who allegedly raped a 35-year-old woman from a tribal colony in Karassery panchayat. The case has been registered following a complaint filed by the victim.

Mr. Abraham said the woman had already identified the man and communicated his details to the police. “He is currently absconding, but, we have traced his mobile phone number and a detailed inquiry is under way,” he added. A case has also been slapped against the accused under various sections of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
