V. V. Benny, Circle Inspector, Kuttiyadi, and member of the special police team that probed the murder of Revolutionary Marxist Party (RMP) leader T.P. Chandrasekharan told the trial court here on Wednesday that the police had clues about the accused right from the next day of the crime.
Chandrasekharan was killed allegedly by a hired gang at Vallikkad at 10.15 p.m. on May 4, 2012.
Mr. Benny deposed before R. Narayana Pisharadi, judge, Special Additional District and Sessions Court (Marad Cases), at Eranhipalam here.
In his cross examination by defence counsels on the second day on Tuesday, he said the accused had been arrested based on these clues and information received subsequently.
The mahassar report was prepared on May 5, 2012. However, it was submitted only on May 7, 2012 as May 6 was Sunday, a holiday.
He told the court that he had collected samples of the paint of the multi utility vehicle (MUV) that had hit the motorcycle in which Chandrasekharan was riding. The mahassar had been prepared after visiting the spot. The samples and the mahassar report were handed over the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Vadakara, Mr. Benny said. He denied the allegation of the defence counsel that the records had been fabricated during various stages of the probe.
