Police action against MYL activists deplored

March to theme park planned

KOZHIKODE: Muslim Youth League (MYL) State president has termed the police action against MYL leaders, including its State general secretary P.K. Firos, who took out a protest march to the resort of Transport Minister Thomas Chandy in Alappuzha as “undemocratic and deplorable”.

‘False charges’

Addressing the media here, MYL State senior vice president Najeeb Kanthapuram said the police had assaulted the protesters and foisted false charges on them.

“The MYL activists had taken out a peaceful march to the resort. But the police, without any provocation, assaulted them,” he said.

March planned

He added that Muslim Youth League workers was planning to take out a protest march to the controversial theme park owned by legislator P.V. Anvar at Kakkadampoyil on Wednesday.

Similarly, protests will organised against the State government for the latter’s alleged stifling of agitations against corruption, Mr. Kanthapuram said.
