The questioning of the first accused, M.C. Anoop, in the T.P. Chandrasekharan murder case was completed at the Special Additional District and Sessions Court (Marad Cases) here on Saturday. The questioning had begun on Friday.
He told the judge R. Narayana Pisharadi that he was arrested from his residence though the Vadakara Deputy Superintendent of Police Jossy Cherian had earlier testified that he was arrested at the Dy.SP office, Vadakara.
The questioning is being done under Section 313 (power to examine the accused) under the Code of Criminal Procedure. Anoop was one of the alleged seven who had hacked to death the Revolutionary Marxist Party leader Chandrasekharan at Vallikkad on May 4, 2012. His questioning was completed.
Anoop said that he had not called on the mobile phone of P. Mohanan, member of the district secretariat of the Communist Party of India-(Marxist) [CPI-M], and 14 accused in the murder case. He also contested the statement of the police that his face was covered when he was produced before the Vadakara Judicial First Class Magistrate Court. [The police had covered his face to enable the court to carry out an identification parade.]
He also alleged that the police had revealed his identity to the witnesses at the camp office of the Special Investigation Team at Vadakara.
Manoj Kumar aka Kirmani Manoj, the second accused, will be questioned on August 7 and 8. The statements of the accused are recorded based on a prepared questionnaire. A total of 56 accused, including district-level CPI (M) leaders, are facing trial.
