Examination of defence witnesses in the T.P. Chandrasekharan murder case will begin at the Special Additional Sessions Court (Marad Cases) at Eranhipalam here on Tuesday.
R. Narayana Pisharadi, judge, will examine a photographer, T.M. Bhaskaran, and a CPI (M) activist, V.P. Gopalakrishnan, for ascertaining the contention of the defence counsel that the 14th accused P. Mohanan, a CPI (M) district secretariat member, had participated at a party programme at Onchiyam Martyrdom Square on April 2.
The case pertained to a seven-member gang, allegedly hired by the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI-M], for hacking to death the Revolutionary Marxist Party leader at Vallikkad near Onchiyam on May 4, 2012.
Previously, the defence counsel had submitted a list of 14 witnesses including representatives of three Malayalam newspapers to be examined before the trial court here.
Against Kunhanandan
K. Prasad, a workshop mechanic, will also be examined on Tuesday for disproving the statement of a prosecution witness who had testified against the 13th accused P.K. Kunhanandan, a member of the Panur area committee of the CPI (M).
Two Assistant Engineers of the Kerala State Electricity Board at Muttungal (Vadakara) and Koothuparamba will be examined on Friday over the disruption of power supply at Orkatteri and Vallikkad between 9 and 9.30 p.m. on May 4, 2012, and at Kottuparamba between 8 and 8.30 p.m. on May 5, 2012.
The court will on Wednesday pronounce the verdict whether a nodal officer of the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited should be examined and data call record of the mobile phone of one of the investigators, A.P. Shoukathali, Deputy Superintendent of Police, be summoned.
